Marin County, California

Marin County is a county located in the North San Francisco Bay Area of the. state of California, across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. The estimated population for the year 2005 for Marin County, California was 246960; the county seat is San Rafael.

Marin County is world-renowned for its stunning natural beauty, liberal politics and pockets of extreme affluence, a unique and special place to those who know the area. It is also regarded by many as the birthplace of mountain biking, pinpointing the steep and rough Repack Fire Road in Fairfax, Marin County, California where mountain biking is said to have started.

Marin County's many beautiful natural sites include the famous Muir Woods redwood forest, Stinson Beach, Point Reyes National Seashore, and Mount Tamalpais (the birthplace of mountain biking) These are some of the reasons people are drawn to Marin County. It is not for everyone, but for those who can afford real estate in Marin County, it is worth every penny.
